Alesco goes Intralogic
Alesco is a $1.1 billion dollar business and one of Australia's largest fastest growing multi-national companies with operations in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. After an 18-month evaluation process, Alesco has replaced its corporate Internet with Weblogics’ Intralogic knowledge management portal.
With over 3,200 staff across more than 100 offices, supporting 15 separate trading companies, Alesco went to open tender to replace a homegrown intranet in 2007. The new system needed to support a diverse range of businesses, each with their own business processes and workflows, and 1000's of branded products.
Tremendous growth through acquisition had resulted in legacy technology that was too diverse and inefficient in meeting corporate objectives. “The objective of the tendering process was to find a single portal that could not only serve the individual needs of the individual companies and divisions that were part of Alesco, but also to service the business processes and knowledge management requirements at the corporate level”, says Weblogics Director Steve Layer.
Intralogic was selected over 20 other competitors due to its low deployment costs and high functionality. After an extensive pilot program, the system went live with 750 users to serve the corporate divisions, and over the beginning of 2009 this will increase to all users across 6 divisions and ultimately support all of the business processes across all offices.
Using Intralogic's point/click deployment and advanced user interface, the whole system has been deployed without a line of code being written. Alesco's Chief Information Officer, Koos Joubert, explains the situation leading up their selection of IntraLogic. “Throughout the pilot period we monitored what we were achieving against competitors. Other solutions were more expensive, and required expert software development teams to deploy. The total deployment costs of Intralogic are a fraction of alternatives”.
